ahedd DIH attended the DIGITAL SME summit 2023, an annual event that was held on Monday 13 November, at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.
Periklis Terlixidis, Operating Officer at ahedd, participated in the session “Success Stories in European Digital Innovation Hubs-Driving Digital Decade Targets”, sharing Smart Attica EDIH‘s mission and digital innovation services towards the digital transformation of smes and public sector organisations in three critical business sectors of the Greek economy: Energy & Environment, Supply chain & Mobility, Culture & Tourism.
Additionally, he highlighted ahedd’s partnership in the Smart Health EDIH, emphasising how SMEs, startups, mid-caps, and the public sector can benefit from the hub’s services to enhance their business and production processes, products and services. The achievement of this goal will be facilitated by adopting digital technology within the domains of digital and smart health, driving the digital transformation of both the private and public sectors.

ahedd DIH is the coordinator of Smart Attica EDIH, the first European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) for Artificial Intelligence in Greece. It focuses on the Attica region as a model for the digital transformation of Greece and other European regions. It involves the largest part of the research and academic excellence in Attica across the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Internet of Things, as well as key players in the innovation space, computational infrastructure, culture and catalyst partners for financial support and dissemination of digital solutions it will create.
ahedd DIH participates in smartHEALTH EDIH along with SKEL The AI lab, Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications and more specifically the Biomedical and Health Informatics Team (BioHIT), with a focus on machine learning, data mining and knowledge representation, applied to biomedical and health data, and the Data Engineering Group (DEG), which focuses on AI for automatically optimising operations over heterogeneous data and Big Data.
About the European DIGITAL SME Alliance summit
The European DIGITAL SME Alliance summit aims to advocate for a new paradigm in the 21st-century Digital Society, emphasising the pivotal role of innovative European smes. It will bring together SMEs from across Europe and key figures from policy, business, academia, and civil society to discuss SMEs’ role in sustainable digitalisation. It will also serve as a platform to showcase their digital solutions for Europe’s twin transition – digital and green – and address global challenges. Furthermore, the summit will to the formulation of policies for a transformative digital EU agenda.
