The second talk in the new series of monthly business talks titled AI Industry Connect was held on Wednesday 14 April 2021 with invited speaker Alexandros Paramythis CEO of Contexity.
Talk title: Practical AI solutions for the life sciences and customer care
The talk focused on how Contexity combines Semantic Web- and reasoning-based approaches with modern Machine Learning-based ones, to address a variety of real-world challenges in the domains of information retrieval for the health sciences, and conversational interaction for customer care.
A Q&A session followed the presentation.
Short Bio: Alexandros Paramythis holds a PhD in the area of adaptive interactive systems. His research has revolved around human-computer interaction, personalisation, and information retrieval, areas in which he has authored or co-authored more than sixty publications. Alexandros Paramythis is co-founder and technical lead of Contexity AG, based in Switzerland, where he specialises in information retrieval, and applications of natural language processing.
This initiative was launched in March 2021 by SKEL | The Artificial Intelligence Lab, Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications and ahedd Digital Innovation Hub at NCSR Demokritos and aims to bring to the forefront, the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence when being put to use by the Industry, in various domains. Through this series of online talks, wider audiences have the opportunity to find out about the innovations of each company in their domain and hear real-life use-cases by professionals.
Finally, potential links between the Industry and the scientific community are being highlighted to find out about the needs of the Industry for applicable scientific results.
