Data Sovereignty in the Digital Decade – For a stronger digital Europe in the world is a webinar focusing on Data Sovereignty in the context of Europe’s Digital Decade. The online event was held on Tuesday 4 October, 12.00-13.00 (CET) and was organised by Futurium, a DG Connect platform that facilitates open dialogue on EU digital policies.
Data at the heart of Digital transformation
Data is valuable information that can help shape a better future. Data can help researchers turn towards new discoveries; it can support doctors in making better diagnoses; it can make small businesses manage operations more efficiently and cut costs. The European way of handling data is the key to achieve that goal. The EU’s ambition is to be digitally sovereign in an open and interconnected world, and to pursue digital policies that empower people and businesses to seize a human-centred, sustainable and more prosperous digital future.
Data Sovereignty in the Digital Decade – The event
The webinar was divided into two parts. For the first part, representatives of the European Commission focused on data sovereignty and Europe’s digital transformation. For the second part, stakeholders, working in the field of data sovereignty across Europe, shared their opinions, in a panel discussion, on the challenges, solutions and calls for action concerning data sovereignty, among others.
